Generating a Critical Mass of Conscious Commitment

Empowered by our partnership with indigenous people, The Pachamama Alliance inspires and galvanizes the human family to generate a critical mass of conscious commitment to a thriving, just and sustainable way of life on Earth.

Consistent with this larger vision, we generate and engage people everywhere in transformational conversations and experiences that:

  • Weave together indigenous and modern worldviews
  • Connect human beings with their inherent dignity
  • Reveal the magnificence and opportunity of this moment in human history
  • Transform human relationships – with ourselves, with one another, and with the natural world.

Together, we can transform the human systems and structures that keep us separate, becoming each other’s strongest allies in ensuring a vibrant future.

Why We’re Here

Answering the Call of The Achuar

The Pachamama Alliance was created at the invitation of the Achuar, an indigenous people of the Amazon rainforest.

Having made their home in the rainforests of Ecuador and Peru for centuries, they have much wisdom to offer about living in harmony with the natural world and with one another.

In the 1990’s, facing oil development on their ancestral lands, Achuar elders decided to reach out to the modern world that was threatening their very existence.

They issued a call for allies who would work to “change the dream of the modern world” and transform the culture of overconsumption driving the destruction of the rainforest.

The Pachamama Alliance was created as an answer to their call.

What We Do

Engaging People in Transformational Conversations

Our sister organization in Ecuador, Fundación Pachamama, partners directly with indigenous people of the western Amazon basin to defend their cultures and territories, which are a source of biological, medicinal, and spiritual wealth for all humanity.

Through this continued partnership, The Pachamama Alliance brings indigenous wisdom to bear on shifting the trajectory of humankind toward a sustainable, just, and fulfilling future. We do this through these primary initiatives:

Awakening the Dreamer and its counterpart for youth, Generation Waking Up, offer transformational education workshops that bring together the best of modern and ancient wisdom, supporting you to rise to the challenge of this moment in history.

Pachamama Journeys give you the opportunity to explore Achuar culture firsthand, learning and applying ancient wisdom to your life directly from the rainforest and its spiritual warriors.

The Possible Futures Film Festival invites you to contribute to a new human story, calling on people everywhere and at all levels of experience to create and share their vision for a positive future.
