Altar at The Pachamama Alliance Office
Do you have a favorite place to rest your mind, ground yourself, and remind you of the things that are most important to you? For some of us is a tranquil coffee shop, a house of worship or a walk in nature; but what if you could accomplish just that in a small corner of your home or your desk? An altar can be a place to dwell on your spirituality and your innermost goals, as such it is very personal but you can also do it with your family at home or even open it to your work family at the office!
Yesterday, The Pachamama Alliance re-dedicated its office altar. Ours is an ecumenical altar, so it is a place for honoring all spiritual guidance and commitment among staff and board members; you can think of it as a spiritual “home base” for our shared vision and commitment.
On our altar, we keep objects that represent our commitment to the work of the organization, the Pachamama, and other guides or deities that inspire us to make a contribution in bringing forth a sustainable, thriving, and just world.
Our invitation is for you to create more altars of all kinds! Staying in touch with your highest self and sharing a connection with others empowers our ability to build community. Big or small, sassy or organic, just remember that your altar should tend to the needs of the participants and embrace your shared values.
