Who We Are and What We Do

BE THE CHANGE BARBADOS is a newly formed umbrella organization whose focus is to inspire, inform, connect, create and support local initiatives in the areas of environmental sustainability, social justice and spiritual fulfillment. It is a registered non-profit organization that is entirely volunteer-based.

The aim of the Barbados organization is to awaken people to help change the way we view our precious environment and how we use resources on the island. We embrace and encourage all aspects of a more holistic way of living.

Although only formed in March 2012, we have already given birth to several significant projects in the areas of food sustainability and organic gardening, childhood education, energy conservation and social justice.

Our Mission

Our mission is to be a Philosophical & Ethos based Organisation:   Inspired to Connect -  Empowered to Change.

Our Community Story

Be the Change UK introduced us to The Pachamama Alliance by holding an initial Symposium in February 2012 with about 30 participants.  The enthusiasm was overwhelming and we immediately began by holding Evolve Circles presenting information to any interested persons. This led to Community Circle meetings with 6 working groups.

Since it was not possible to immediately organise a facilitators training, we presented our first Symposium to over 50 attendees on our own.  In September 2012 we had the good fortune to have Jon Symes, International Training Director, present a local Symposium and a Getting Into Action Workshop plus Facilitator Training.   Since then, we have conducted a Symposium for one of our sponsors.  Our plans are to make the Symposium relevant to the Caribbean  and to introduce it to the wider Barbadian society as well as other Caribbean countries.

Our Community Activities

Our Community holds bi-monthly ‘Evolve Circles’ during which we discuss current projects, host two speakers and reconnect with each other.  The alternate months the Leadership Circle meets to report and share progress on their various projects.
