Who We Are and What We Do
The Northwest Pachamama Community comprises Pacha people (ATD facilitators, GenUp facilitators, friends and supporters of the Pachamama Alliance) in and around the Puget Sound area of Washington state and beyond. We have close connections with the Earth Wisdom Alliance group in Portland and the Be the Change Earth Alliance group in Vancouver BC. We present Awakening the Dreamer Symposiums, Getting into Action Workshops, youth WakeUps, and special events with luminaries like John Perkins, Lynne Twist and Jon Symes. We are building alliances with other organizations such as the Compassionate Action Network, which are also doing work to bring forth an environmentally sustainable, socially just and spiritually fulfilling human presence on our beloved Earth. We stand with indigenous communities to protect the air, earth and water for future generations.
The mission of the NW Pachamama Community is to help bring forth an environmentally sustainable, spiritually fulfilling and socially just presence in the Northwest United States.
The Areas This Community Includes
The Northwest Pachamama Community covers Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana. The Earth Wisdom Alliance group in Portland and the Be the Change Earth Alliance in Brithish Columbia overlap with us. Together we are the Cascadia Pachamama Communtiy.
Our Community Story
The Northwest Pachamama Alliance was born in 2006 when Susan Burns and Mark Dubois brought the symposium to an audience of 140 people in Seattle. We honor our other original founders: Mike Seymour, Jan Keller, Ann Amberg, Victor Bremson, Rich Henry, Sheri Herndon, Edith Kusnic, Ken Gillgren, Fred Lamphere and many others who trained at the first facilitator training and began spreading the message her in the Puget Sound area.
Our current community includes ATD facilitators, Gen Up Wake Up facilitators, and friends and supporters of the Pachamama Alliance.
Our Community Activities
We meet regularly from September - June in Seattle near Lake Washington. We also host special events each year. We have hosted Lynne Twist on Living a Commited Life at Townhall, John Perkins on the cosmology of the Achuar tribe, An Evening with Jon Symes, and others. The Generation Waking Up group has helped to host a gathering with Barbara Marx Hubbard, a Summer of Solutions youth action group, and numerous performance and art events. We are currently working on building up our community and building alliances with other organizations doing the work of the Great Turning in this area. These organizations include the Art Affect, the Compassionate Action Network, and For the Grandchildren.
We invite individuals that feel a call to our mission to join our community. We have a facebook page called the Seattle Pachamama Community and a Google Group called Pachamama Pacific Northwest which anyone can request to join. We also invite organizations that are working toward environmental sustainability, spiritual fulfillment or social justice in the Northwest to partner with us to build a network of organizations that are in touch and mutually su
