Last month, indigenous leaders from across Ecuador’s Amazon region gathered for a workshop on the latest developments in indigenous rights globally, which included the recent Sarayaku ruling, and inspired them to issue a manifesto on indigenous rights to prior consultation.

Fundación Pachamama’s Solar Transportation Project for the Achuar people in Ecuador and Peru is one of seven winners of a regional contest to promote innovative and replicable renewable energy projects. With the awarded funds, the Achuar will build the first solar-powered public transportation system in the Amazon basin.
