About the Internship
As a Communications Intern for The Pachamama Alliance, you will provide critical support to a vibrant Communications Department that is responsible for a diverse array of activities designed to build and engage our global online and offline community. Areas of focus include maintaining, developing, and refining websites, creating and dispersing content, building and engaging social communities, assembling and delivering email campaigns, designing and refining print materials, and developing strategic frameworks for the growth of our programs in the U.S. and around the world. We work to increase the number of people we can reach across all channels and then to engage these people with compelling calls to action.
This internship is a wonderful opportunity to learn new communications and marketing skills while working with a highly effective and skilled communications team, providing valuable non-profit work experience that will support your resume in any future work.
Responsibilities
- Research for targeted keywords, and author articles for Search Engine Optimization
- Create innovative and engaging Facebook and Twitter posts
- Create blog posts and do light editing of blog posts that are written by others
- Assist with email list management
- Promote our upcoming events to local communities
- Help collect data for and compile reports
- Author press releases
- Write and send “pitch” emails to bloggers and journalists
- Work with Communications Director on various aspects of media outreach
- Organize our large collection of photographs
- Assist with a variety of other communications tasks as needed
If you possess an advanced skill-set, there are opportunities for supporting paid advertising campaigns, building HTML email campaigns and web pages, and creating graphics.
Details
- Interns are expected to commit to 15 to 20 hours per week for 3 to 4 months
- This is an unpaid internship
- You will work in our office in the Presidio of San Francisco, CA
- The ideal candidate is someone interested in marketing and communications and who is excited about using online tools to make a difference in the world
- Experience in Search Engine Optimization, Facebook and Twitter maintenance, and writing, is preferred, but not required
