Awakening the Dreamer Expands in China May 12th, 2017 Share Tweet Google+ In March 2017, long time partner and Training Leader Mary Klug and Maisa Arias from Pachamama Alliance visited China to attend and host 7 transformational events over the course of 3 weeks. Jump Up Training Delivering transformational programs for children in Beijing has been a focus of the Pachamama Alliance Community in China since its inception. In 2016, the Jump Up program—an Awakening the Dreamer-based program for children—was introduced to the group and excitement grew with the possibility of creating change in the education system in the country. Soon after, the Jump Up was translated into Chinese and in March 2017, 38 passionate individuals were trained to deliver the curriculum across China. The hosts of the training, the Hua Tao-Pachamama Alliance Community and IDEAS Camp—an international camp education institution that promotes inter-cultural understanding and exchange among teenagers through camp education—made inspiring declarations to expand the Jump Up in China. IDEAS camp will be implementing all areas of the Jump Up program to their camp programs in 2017 and are actively adapting the curriculum for their different camp groups. The Hua Tao-Pachamama Alliance Community intends to trial the program in 4 to 8 schools over the course of this year, to develop their blossoming partnership with IDEAS and to host a Jump Up training program and leadership training in Beijing, Chengdu and Changsha in 2018. The group will also develop the Jump Up curriculum as an 8-year program for Waldorf Steiner schools. Training Leaders Weekends in Sichuan and Shandong Provinces The Pachamama Alliance’s Training Leaders Program was offered in Chengdu (Sichuan province) and Qingdao (Shandong province), equipping individuals to train others who desire to present Awakening the Dreamer in their communities. Upon completion, participants made commitments to offer Awakening the Dreamer Facilitator Trainings as well as to creating new opportunities for further engagement in this global movement to bring forth a new future for all. Community Days in Beijing and Chengdu resulted in the coming together of representatives from different organizations, local governments, schools, and businesses who are now actively exploring ways to create educational programs to raise awareness about waste management in China. The groups explored ways of provoking a shift in worldviews—from one that insists that human beings are separate from the natural world, thereby creating so much destruction in the world, to one that reinforces and stimulates a mutually enhancing relationship between humans, the Earth and all of life. We are looking forward to what 2018 may bring. Possibilities include expanding the Jump Up program by training more facilitators and when a Training Leaders Program has been developed for Jump Up, holding that training wherever needed. We will meet with the communities in Beijing, Chengdu, and Qingdao where needed to support their endeavors. Other possibilities include returning to Solar Valley to explore the needs and wants of the Micro-E University there, and developing our work in Hangzhou and Shanghai.
