Expanding the Global Reach of Pachamama Alliance
Pachamama Alliance began in Ecuador with a call from Life itself through our indigenous partners. Our Founders were asked to change the dream of the modern world, and our programs were first produced in English. But quickly there was a demand for the Awakening the Dreamer Symposium around the world.
Awakening the Dreamer Symposium in Latin America
The first non-english language Awakening the Dreamer Symposium was presented in Ecuador by Pachamama Alliance in 2007. In 2008, the Symposium was presented in Argentina where Juana Pereyra Iraola was inspired to do the simultaneous translation of the Symposium. That led to the full translation of all materials and to Juana becoming a volunteer and leader in the Ibero-American community. As new version of the Symposium rolled out, groups of volunteers in Mexico, Spain, and Peru gathered to translate the Awakening the Dreamer Symposium into Simposio “Despertando al Soñador, Cambiando el Sueño.” It is in as universal a version of Spanish as possible so that it can be presented throughout Latin America and Spain.
The dedicated volunteers consistently update videos with voice-over and subtitles, and adapt the content to make it culturally appropriate. They translate the Facilitator trainings, fliers and handouts as well. Because of their commitment, the Awakening the Dreamer Symposium has never been out-of-date, and continues to resonate in a very powerful way in Ibero-America.
Curso Intensivo: The New Spanish-language Game Changer Intensive
When the Game Changer Intensive in English was created three years ago, a core group of volunteers met in Mexico and issued a declaration that they would translate and adapt all weeks of the course. After months of dedication and hard work, and 3 beta tests with small cohorts of users, the first formal Spanish-language Game Changer Intensive, Curso Intensivo, was just completed. Pachamama Alliance advertised the program using Spanish language social media, and 140 people signed up in 3 days. The program is being moderated by Mexican Pachamama Alliance volunteer, Jorge Villegas, with support from the Game Changer Intensive staff in San Francisco. The next Curso Intensivo begins September 26.
Supporting the Global Pachamama Alliance Community
People all over the world are engaging in conversations about creating a sustainable, fulfilling, and just human presence on the planet, and the Pachamama Alliance Communities team is developing a new online community platform that will facilitate those conversations. One of the exciting features of the platform is that it can be readily translated into different languages in order to support Pachamama Communities worldwide.
Facilitating Conversation and Deepening Connection with our Indigenous Partners
Providing programs in multiple languages is creating a shared lexicon that enables the Pachamama Alliance community to better hear and learn from each other, bridging language and cultural differences. And they are helping the Pachamama Alliance community to better hear our indigenous partners as well.
“The Spanish language Symposium gives participants the language with which to communicate. It teaches them to speak with the language and messaging that the modern world understands. It helps us to speak in ways that allow the modern world to hear the voices of the tribes better.” — Manari Ushinga, Sápara leader and Spanish language Symposium Facilitator
Through the dedication of the Pachamama Alliance team, and and the generosity of our donors and volunteers, Pachamama Alliance is creating a truly global community, one working together to change the dream of the modern world.
